The Juha puzzles are not for
beginners. Anyone but very experienced cube puzzle solvers will find each of the Six Juha
Cubes to be nearly impossible to solve.
For people who love challenges in three-dimensions, we
highly recommend these puzzles, or for those looking for a REAL HARD PUZZLE
for that special person.
The designs are based on 4x4x4 unit cube. The puzzle is both a take-apart puzzle and a
put-together puzzle. Most of them can be classified as interlocking solid puzzles as well,
which we feel is the most appropriate category for them.
The puzzle pieces are designed very ingeniously by Finnish computer
engineer and puzzle designer Juha Levonen. You have to work hard just to get them apart!
You may need to push, pull, move left or right a piece or group, one or several times, to
remove a piece from the path of another piece. This may go on for several moves before a
piece can finally be removed.
As you may have guessed, the pieces are not always straightforward. You may find them
symmetrical on 2 axes, or assymetrical on 3 axes, like a frozen, angular worm! The pieces
may be a 1-unit cube or a 27-unit figure.
For the maximum challenge, I recommend that you first disassemble your puzzle, then have a
friend rearrange the pieces before you begin the re-assembly process. Be brave!
Instructions by Bernhard Schweitzer are included - Some have an English translation, but
some may be only in German. Consider it an incentive to solve it on your own! The diagrams
are a big help if (when) you need them. |
