Burr Puzzle is the common name
for a classification of puzzles called Interlocking Solid Puzzles. Burrs are actually a
sub category of Interlocking Solids.
Some burrs can be classified as both take apart and put together
puzzles.
The typical burr puzzle is easier to get apart than it is to reassemble. Most
people find that assembling a burr puzzle is very challenging indeed.
It takes delicate physical skills as well as cerebral
prowess to build a burr. People who are not dedicated puzzlers often give up.
A great many burr puzzles have been invented in the last 300
years. They take all kinds of interesting forms and are usually made of wood, although
plastic and metal burrs are becoming more common.
On this page we offer a variety of interlocking solid
puzzles from around the world, from whimsical low cost toys up to woodworking and puzzling
masterpieces.
