Eric Kelsic, Jonathan McCabe, and Randal Gatewood make puzzle boxes. One at a time - by hand. These three individual artists share a common passion for puzzle boxes, and a clean style. And all their work is made to Cleverwood’s fine woodworking standards.

Puzzle Boxes made by the three Cleverwood Artists are sold in limited editions – signed, numbered and guaranteed for the lifetime of the purchaser.* Each puzzle box comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and glossy color solution brochure.

Most of the puzzle boxes made by Randal, Eric, Kagen, and Jonathan are seldom “In Stock.” There are waiting lists. So when a batch of boxes is completed, the customers at the top of the waiting list are offered the opportunity to purchase them. There are usually more people on the waiting list than there are new boxes, so the box seldom is “In Stock.” To add your name to the waiting list for a particular work just send a Pending Order. Often, customers on our emailing list get the first opportunity to sign-up for new work.

While the Cleverwood Artists do specialize in puzzle boxes, they sometimes make a variety of other mechanical and wooden puzzles as well. These items come with the standard Cleverwood guarantee of one year. They do not come with a Certificate of Authenticity or brochure unless noted. All the limited edition work of the Cleverwood Artists is available exclusively at this web site.

* This means that since you have no opportunity to physically examine the item you are buying before you buy it, as you would in a “brick and mortar” store, we guarantee that if you don’t like the item when you receive it, for any reason whatsoever - or no reason - we will take it back and refund the total purchase price. Then, if at anytime during your lifetime, the item becomes defective, we will repair or replace it at no cost to you. This clarification was added here on January 15, 2003.
